Chancin' It in Chinatown!

This was my first street photoshoot in Victoria. I chose Chinatown as it is usually a bustling , busy area, in a distinct setting. My aim was to try to overcome some of the fear that is natural when doing street photography in a larger city for the first time. I was not comfortable going too close to people initially. I saw these pallets on thee sidewalk and was able to utilise them to get some candid shots. Here are a couple :

Smile your on camera!

I got a bit braver and took this quintessential "person in the cafe" shot. I won't do many more of these, but it a kind of rite of passage for street photography so here is mine!

Who are you lookin' at!

I'm a sucker for a cute dog in a car! This needed a lot of work in post editing for you to actually see there was a dog in the car in the first place! I learnt a lot about getting the right exposure for a subject in a dark setting. So the stats below show why it did not work prior to editing:

f5,1/2000, ISO 200, 40 mm, SV,EC-0.7 step. Next time I would have a slower shutter speed, and ISO at 100, with EC at 0.
