Still Chancin' It In Chinatown

Here are some more images from my first photoshoot in Victoria BC's Chinatown on March 3 2023

I chanced upon this woman with her partner who went into a store. She was dressed unconventionally, and I thought she would make a great subject. . She was outside smoking , and i was hoping to get a shot of her blowing out the smoke. I had set this as a side project for this shoot, and had missed every opportunity so far! She was a bit of a character and I took the opportunity to overcome my anxiety and engaged her in conversation.

I am really happy with this one, I saw the first woman, then the second, and then a third, and managed to get them all in one frame.

I learnt a lot on this shoot, most of the need to be ready! It was quite anxiety provoking at first, but my confidence increased as the morning wore on. I am going to try to just set up my camera once then see how I do without feeling the need to change settings, unless the light changes drastically. Eventually I want to do some night street shots but that will be a little while yet.

My next blog post will be a return to shots that did not work, so enjoy these while you can!
