You can dramatically improve sharpness by using the software program PhotoAI. It really is amazing.
ME: Thank You R for your suggestion I will check it out
Too much crop and some crappy aberrations.
ME: Agreed!
That's some pretty ugly noise for 320 iso. closer won't make things sharper. higher aperture values will. with a 500th shutter, it's clear you could have slowed that down and stepped up your aperture for higher numbers to increase sharpness. Also, that lens isn't exactly a sharp king. Better glass will help, but you should get the best sharpness from most lenses around f8-11, as a general rule.
Also, is this raw, jpeg? Did you do post sharpening? Tried the dehaze tool in an Adobe Software?
ME: I did do a severe crop probably way too much.. I appreciate the advice on aperture and shutter speed and will take the same shot again using your suggestions. This is a RAW file I use photoscape X free version editing software at the moment. Thanks very much for taking the trouble to offer advice much appreciated.
Ok, so crop explains some aspects of the noise to a certain degree. I assume you're boosting your shadows. Also, where did you crop? The center of lenses is where they are sharpest. If you cropped anywhere but dead center, you're getting less than maximum sharpness on just about every lens ever made. Also, was your focus point set to this part of the composition?
IDK that software, but I assume there's a denoise tool and a sharpener. If not, get a software that does.
ME: I cropped the bottom of the image and the left hand side. I did boost the shadows. My focus was on the woman standing up. I appreciate your observations many thanks.
Is this the full frame, or did you crop? My first thought is this looks like a photo that has been cropped too much, but if it's the full frame there is some other problem.
ME: Yes I did a severe crop, lesson learnt! It is not full frame
