I have the Sony a6000 and highly recommend the 35mm f1.8 lens. It’s a game changer compared to the kit lens.
It does look a bit noisy for a iso 320. Was this the original unedited pic?
ME: I have just bought the Sigma 30mm 1.4 and it is my first prime. A big adjustment, particularly as I am struggling to focus in manual focus. Enjoying figuring out the distance from the subject though! I think I will put the 35 mm 1.8 on my wish list- after I have saved up enough for the 70-300 zoom. Thanks for your helpful suggestions.
The woman looks like my friend H, who’s from BC. That and the blue and yellow colors are eye catching to me.
I find this image confusing: what’s that bright object between the woman and the door? It looks like an artifact and not something that was actually in the scene. Likewise, the door on the right looks normal on its top, but towards the bottom it appears very artifacted and even appears to show an implausible geometry.
The processing is pretty extreme, but it’s understandable considering the high contrast of the scene. There are strong haloes around the edges and noise due to brightening. This is very much a function of what app was used to do this, and for example, current Photoshop is much better at controlling artifacts.
ME: Thank You M for your feedback. I had not noticed the artifact before. I wonder if it is simply the light? I use Photoscape X free version at the moment as I develop editing skills but I will inevitably migrate to LR at some point. thanks you for taking the trouble to provide feedback much appreciated.
ME: Hi M, Thank you for your helpful advice. I agree think getting closer would have helped, and the lens struggles at that distance. I use Photoshop X free version at the moment for post editing For some reason DPR page not allowing me to upload the original, I will keep trying. Thanks once again for taking the trouble to offer advice, much appreciated.
The crop is not so heavy, but processing yes. What software and what changes you made on the photo?
To improve sharpness you can:
- go closer/buy longer lens
- be careful with post processing
- buy better lens, kit lens is not known for great sharpness
